Skylar Kitchen Portfolio 2024
Introduction
I designed and built the 2024 edition of this site in Webflow while I was Senior Designer on Webflow’s Brand team. It was a small site: a serif headline over a grainy gradient orb, a featured-work list of seven projects, a Play page of concept screens that never shipped, and a one-paragraph About. It is the site this one replaced, and it is still live at its webflow.io address.
Primary question
How might a personal site show employer work, freelance projects and unshipped play side by side without turning into a résumé?

Challenge
A portfolio is expected to be finished, and my work never is. Projects for Webflow, subcontracts for agencies and concepts that never shipped were all live at once, and they don’t sit well in one grid of case studies. The 2024 site kept the home page to a list, a name, a role and an arrow per project, and gave the explorations their own Play page, so a screen that was only a concept could sit beside a shipped client site without pretending to be one.
It was also built to be replaced. Every project was a Webflow CMS item and every page a template, so adding work was a form, and when this site took over, the old one could stay up unchanged rather than be taken down.
